DO can be the discussion site for work published elsewhere. The active dialog can be a real value add for the scientist. Adding citability for these discussions. PLOS has tools to support this.

DO can be a voice of advocacy for publishing content in this way. DO can advocate this type of publishing. Perhaps in the Ocean domain, this can be effective.
