Climate Change Model Simulation on the PC

Climate Change Model Simulation on the PC

The Human Impact Decision Education Simulator was another PC application. This one took the IPCC climate change simulations and created a way to simulate the impacts of various decisions. Prof. Catherine Gautier used this for several years in her classes at UCSB.
There is a LAB for this at UCSB (PDF): The Human Impact Decision Education Simulator LAB

Early Work with multimedia objects and avatars

Early Work with multimedia objects and avatars

The "Data Discovery" series funded by NASA Earth Science and accomplished by Planet Earth Science in the late 1990s was an opportunity to explore Macromedia (now Adobe) Director's capabilities.
The PC (Windows) applications are still downloadable. The Mac side was done in System 9, and has not survived the subsequent change of both operating system and CPU on the Mac.

Building a Web 2.5 social network and community

The Research Institute was given a contract from UCSB to help manage the planning phase of a proposal to the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation. This proposal, DigitalOcean, involves the development of a dedicated social network (ECOSNet) linked to other Web 2.0 services, such as Flickr and Google Ocean, and building a strong community of users who will provide content for the system.
