What does a DO community on Facebook DO for its members?

Facebook provides a networking opportunity, but would need to have established a 'community' with some identity, e.g. the marine biology community, for these networked connections to become a 'real' community.

It provides a tool for networking.

Facebook DO could provide user/provides a point of access that they might not otherwise find.
