What does success look like for DO? How does this success potentially impact the oceans? How long will it take?
Engagement and content use per se not sufficient as metrics for success.
Time:
a) unknown, but constrained by present environmental emergency
b) (Baseline) survey participants on registration for ocean protection and conservation related behavior, knowledge, and desired outcomes
c) re-survey participants at, say, 6 month intervals to see if increase and/or outcomes achieved.
PRIMARY METRICS
1. Metrics for success around ocean protection and conservation
2. Success as engaging a broad range of people in conservation and protection efforts.
3. Metrics around behavior of DO participants
4. Measurement of attainment of stated goals for DO content
5. Measure behavior change (surveys?)
6. Measure degree to which DO content helped participants achieve their ocean protection and conservation aims
7. Participants when signing up for DO would fill out a questionnaire about what they want to achieve with DO and are automatically
7a. on signing up, DO participants fill out questionnaires that discover ocean related behavior and knowledge. After a certain time, participants would be re-surveyed to see if/what changes/outcomes have occurred.
SECONDARY METRICS:
8. Degree to which DO becomes a source in productions designed to support ocean protection and conservation.
9. Degree to which DO related activities and content are cited on public media, grant programs, etc.
10. Degree to which DO engages non-marine aware/educated public, commercial, and other sectors.
11. Degree to which DO engages a media outlet to engage its audience.
